2018 Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis 1er Cru Montmains $40

The Chablis region in the northern most region of Burgundy is known for Kimmeridigian Soil, a mixture of limestone and clay laced with millions of oyster fossils.  Chablis holds the only Grand Cru vineyard outside of the Cote d’Or that is then split into seven subdivisions. This region often known for its high acidity and lean unoaked Chardonnay.  Typically very little to no oak is used in Premier Cru while Grand Cru producers will sometimes use a low amount of oak to bring a richer and riper flavor profile to the wine.

Coming from the spectacular 2018 vintage, this premier cru Chablis is drinking sensationally well!” says A.J. McClellan, Certified Sommelier and Founder of Roots and Water.  “The nose offers delicate aromas as citrus zest with hints of fresh spring flowers and a elegant saline note. The palate is laser like, showing a crisp acidity that mirrors grapefruit and freshly squeezed lemons. Give this wine 10-15 minutes to open in the bottle before serving and make sure to not drink it too cold as you will loose some of the delicate fruit notes.”
